Who we are

Sizzle & Scrape (https://sizzleandscrape.com) is an independent publication operated by Selena Hann. Contact: contact@sizzleandscrape.com.

The short version

We do not have user accounts, we do not sell data, and the only personal information you can give us is what you type into the contact form. Analytics are aggregate. Affiliate links set cookies on the retailer’s side when you click them.

What we collect

Contact form

If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, optional subject and message you submit. That is emailed to the site owner and used only to reply to you.

The form also records the time it was loaded and your IP address, solely to detect automated spam submissions. The IP is held in memory for rate limiting and is not stored in a database or used for anything else.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic — which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, and which outbound links get clicked. GA4 sets cookies and processes data on Google’s infrastructure under Google’s privacy policy.

We look at this in aggregate. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors and have no mechanism for doing so.

Affiliate links

When you click a product link, you pass through our /go/ redirect to the retailer with our Amazon Associates tag attached. Amazon then sets its own cookies under its own policy to attribute any purchase.

We never see what you bought, your payment details, or your Amazon account. We see aggregate commission reporting only. Full affiliate disclosure.

Server logs

Our host (Vercel) keeps standard request logs including IP address, user agent and requested URL, for security and operational purposes, under Vercel’s privacy policy.

What we do not collect

• No user accounts, logins or passwords — there is no way to register.
• No payment information. All transactions happen on the retailer’s site.
• No newsletter list.
• No advertising or retargeting pixels beyond the analytics described above.
• No data sold or rented to anyone, ever.

Cookies

This site itself sets no cookies for its own purposes. Cookies that may be set are:

• Google Analytics — aggregate usage measurement.
• Amazon — set by Amazon when you follow an affiliate link, for purchase attribution.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so will not affect your ability to read anything here.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to its processing.

In practice the only personal data we hold is contact form correspondence sitting in an email inbox. Email contact@sizzleandscrape.com and we will delete it on request.

Data retention

Contact form emails are kept as long as needed to deal with the correspondence. Analytics data is retained per Google’s default retention settings. Rate-limiting records are held in memory and disappear when the server restarts.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of it.
