Affiliate disclosure
The short version: we earn a commission if you buy through our links, it costs you nothing extra, and it does not decide what we recommend.
The Amazon Associates statement
Sizzle & Scrape is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
How the links work
Product links on this site route through /go/, which adds our Amazon Associates tracking tag and forwards you to Amazon. If you buy something within Amazon’s cookie window, we receive a small percentage of the sale.
You pay exactly the same price as you would going to Amazon directly. The commission comes out of Amazon’s margin, not out of your pocket.
Every earning link on this site carries rel="sponsored nofollow noopener", opens in a new tab, and sits under a visible #ad marker. Our tracking tag is jr-sizzlescrape-20 — you can see it in the URL after the redirect.
Which links earn, and which do not
Earning: Amazon links, which is every buy button and price slot on the site.
Not earning: every link to a manufacturer or retailer in a Sources section or a “specifications from” line. Those are citations, we have no affiliate relationship with any of them, and we earn nothing if you follow one:
- Blackstone Products — reference and specification source only
- Weber — reference and specification source only
- Traeger — reference and specification source only
- Pit Boss Grills — reference and specification source only
- Camp Chef — reference and specification source only
We are Amazon-only at launch. That is the normal state for a new site rather than a problem: no other network has had the opportunity to approve a publication this young. If that changes we will update this page.
What the commission does not buy
A position in a ranking. The scoring rubric is published, it is applied to manufacturer and retailer specifications, and you can run it yourself and check our answer.
The clearest evidence is how often this site recommends spending less, or nothing:
- A steel plate for the grill you already own instead of a new appliance.
- Budget griddles that match flagship specs, which earn us less than the flagship would.
- Three kinds of person who should not buy one.
- A page with no buy link at all, because it answers a safety question.
What we never do
- Sponsored posts. No manufacturer has paid for or influenced anything here, at any price.
- Paid placement or link insertions. We decline these.
- Publish prices we cannot verify. There is no price feed on this site, so there are no prices on it.
- Publish ratings, review counts or testimonials we have no source for.
- Claim to have tested anything. We have not.
FTC compliance
US Federal Trade Commission guidance requires affiliate relationships to be disclosed clearly and conspicuously. On this site that means a visible disclosure block above the first affiliate link on every commercial page, an #ad marker under every buy button, and this page linked from the footer of every page.
